Conducted Walking Tours of Medieval Burford

Sunday Tours

Burford is one of the most unspoilt of England’s medieval towns, with hundreds of buildings listed as being of special architectural or historic interest. It has a wealth of heritage waiting for you to discover and enjoy.

Allow us to take you on a 90 minute tour of our Town whose history began some 4000 years ago with hunter gatherers. Despite being close to Roman roads and centres of Roman population they left little impression on Burford and it was the Saxons that settled (c580) here and created the Town we are today. Hear about the history and stories of the people that have lived here over the centuries, ranging from ordinary people, poor and hard working to the many famous that shaped the country we live in today.

Sunday Tours

Tours of Burford's medieval town, led by our experienced guides, operate on Sunday afternoons between April and December.  They start at 2pm under The Tolsey, on the corner of the High Street and Sheep Street, and take you along its main thoroughfares and side streets finishing at the famous church where, services permitting, you will be guided around its interior.  The church welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year and is recognised as one of the 15 finest churches in England.

Adults £8 with no charge for children under 12. These tours operate from April to December. No booking is necessary.
